Many thanks chaps for the encouragement - appreciated. The figure is now nearly finished and I’ve made good progress with the horse and pistols/holsters/covers. I’m starting to get a feeling of ‘on the home straight’ - but I’m probably not. I’ll post some more pics shortly.

By way of Carabinier relief I spent an evening seeing if I could scratch-build a head for a Lancer of Berg project I’ve been daydreaming about for sometime now. To my great surprise it went rather well - I did want him to look a bit fiercer but thought, don’t push your luck. :)

Wow that looks great, some commercially available heads aren't that good. I gave up trying to do this as mine looked like they were based on Pablo Picasso paintings.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, yep, I’ve had the old Pablo Picasso situation in the past - quite a few times, which is why I’d given heads a wide berth. I bought a set of Historex resin heads with Chapskas in campaign covers recently - for my projected Lancer of Berg - and none of them really fitted the bill so I thought I’d have another bash.
