Thanks for the pics Williams
Always wanted to go.....................................the standard of painting is still great!!!

My favourite piece of the show was Henry V,complete scratchbuilt figure by Adrian bay and beautifully painted.

Paul, it's a great piece of scratchbuilding without a doubt, but did he have the puckered facial scar from the arrow wound at Shrewsbury in 1403? No one ever does it, I notice, but can't quite see on that photo.

Hi Guys,

Well that's a Euro to remember .....

Drove off after the show from the underground car park with back up of car ...thanks to Rob Lane and Co for shouting at me

Lots of lovely stuff in the comp despite the less number of entries my favourite

...didn't go again myself.
Euro's been tired and boring for too long now. I said years ago the Europeans were simply doing it better than us and nobody listened. Good luck to them.
Poor location, poor venue. Boring predictable show that's all-round too expensive. I won't say any more.

I have to say that I have been attending every year since 2004 with a few before that. After each show I come away thinking its was not as good as last year.
Saying that. I enjoyed myself putting names to faces, chatting to the traders , Picking brains etc.

However I live 10 mins from the venue door to door.

Would I spend out on train fares, Hotel Rooms for 2 nights travelling from up North or that other place called europe. In truth I dont think I would as the show stands at the moment. But without those intrepid travellers attending it would be an out & out flop. So I thank you all.

So IMHO if the organisers dont do something soon in 2/3 yrs the fat lady will have sang her last song in the Leas Cliff Hall.

Alan I spoke to Adie at the show and he was mentioned that he did put the scar in on his paint because he too said that no one ever does it.

I'm assuming the reason the chose the venue in Folkestone was to help accommodate those coming from Europe, Euro tunnel an all that. And its not a hard place to get to or nobody would go. we have a lot who travel down from the North, again they wouldn't attend if they didn't like it.
Yes the venue does need some renovation, and some has taken place over the past few years. Anyone remember not being able use the balcony to soak up the sun and enjoy a pint. There's work taking place now, but it all takes time and money and the hall is nothing to do with the organisers of Euro.
Prior to this year Euro has had record numbers of entries, so it was obviously doing something right.
IMO this year was the least enjoyable as the show itself went, meeting up with friends of course was the opposite.
As I've mentioned in another thread, the organisers are well aware of peoples feelings following this years show, and if they don't sort it, there may not be another Euro.
For those who have attended and made comment I think that's fair, but for someone to slag it off who hasn't been for 5 years takes the biscuit.
I know people are entitled to make comment, but there are times folk push the boundaries. This is not a dig or trying to start an argument, just my pennies worth.

Hear what your saying Malc, so maybe the traders and clubs should talk to the organisers, have a face to face meeting and discuss the future of Euro, maybe we can all help to keep the show going.

Brian
I think that matter is in hand from what I heard from some of the traders.
Euro certainly needs a lot of help if its to have a future.

Wow ...back from what has to be a crap euro !!!

I did ok as a trader and thank god i sorted my trade outlets early.

When the comp is that empty and no one is walking the trade floor its bad. The weekend was great as a social event as usual but there was visibly less people !!!

I have spoken to robin buckland and i am to write what i advised...i also thanked him for his efforts as he and david worked tirelessly to make a bad show work.

The owners of the event need to support the event and sort it. As a trader i am asking some big questions of myself and for next year.

One point though....Apathy is killing euro ...nothing else. If we as modellers want it to succeed then we are going to have to get off our arses and go to it...dont just moan its shite but you havent been. It will only work if we attend...sitting at your pc on facebook an pf for the latest pics is not going to help esp if you then sit there and slate how bad it is.

Sorry if this offends but its not just the shows fault...cant be arsed has hit the hobby it seams esp in the uk

Wise words there

This says it all "The owners of the event need to support the event and sort it"

Must admit your stand had more resin to tempt me with but SWMBO was on lookout ..I will use the internet!

Let's hope that the organisors listen to everybody viewpoints ...especially the traders who pay a disgusting amount for tables IMO especially when compared with other shows it like SMC

On this ...maybe we should also have something from PF members so they can see just how the modelers feel about Euro .

Its not that folks can't be arsed, there are less of us than there used to be. The old guard is dying out, no youngsters are coming in to replace them and a lot of folks today are simply living in reduced circumstances that prevent them from affording the cost travel and accommodation. I think we all have to realise that it not how Euro is run, rather that our world is a lot smaller and poorer....

...sorry to bring folks down, but both we and the hobby are getting on in years. :cautious:

Hi Rich

I'm not so sure that's the case, I was one of the younger ones once.:D, but now one of the Old Guard, and there were plenty there that were a lot younger than me, so they must be filtering through. Sadly there weren't many there that were older.
