Yeah, not painting today. I swapped my old desk, which was my father's painting desk, for a small dining room table and set of office draws. Got much more room now but too knackered to paint. Also helps I ditched two black bin bags of crap that I'd accumulated over time, now all I have to do is fill all he space again!

We've been clearing the garage for about 6 years now, still can't get inside! Doesn't help my eldest two, both married and moved out, still have a shed load of stuff here. Add to that my Granddaughter has more toys here than my three had between them and we don't have room to swing a cat, and I have three of them.

There is apparently a saying attributed (by Ray Mears) to an indigenous tribe somewhere, that goes something like,
"If you have more possessions than you can carry on your back, then they own you."

Oh I like that, often ended up with a bergan on my back weighing anything up to and around 100lb, add to that the webbing and weapon and yeah it owns you.

It isn't surprising that ex-squaddies get joint problems.
Nothing new, it seems:
"Marius is said in ancient sources to have moved much of the baggage off beasts of burden and onto the backs of the common soldiers, giving them the moniker muli Mariani ("Marius's mules")."

When I moved into my house back in 2001, I had in mind a rule of thumb that anything that was still packed away 6 months after the move was something you didn't need, and should get rid of.
I still have 2 rooms full of storage, 23 years later.

Prost!
Brad

From being in the Army and moving house every couple of years we kept nothing that wasn't necessary. Been here now for nearly 30 years and the place is bursting at the seams.

Ha as case of what have the Romans done for us. I remember an old club member giving us talks on Roman military topics, well he was a history teacher, he told us about Marius's Mule, must admit I prefer a bergen to hanging everything off a pole.

What a nice fleshtone, and the blues are fantastic.
Any more progress pics soon?

Everything is in slow motion at the moment, family visiting, hospital appointments, grandfather duties and a lot if being in too much pain to sit at my desk. When the dust settles though I have some small updates to post.

Cheers Simon
